Where a 9 x 12 works
- Large living rooms, leaving about 18 inches of floor exposed around the rug (Room & Board).
- Under a king bed (Wayfair).
- Dining rooms, with at least 24 inches of rug on all sides of the table (Room & Board).
Will it fit my room?
Room & Board suggests leaving about 18 inches of floor exposed around a rug. For a 9 x 12, that means a room at least 144 x 180 inches. In a smaller room, choose the next size down or use a front-legs-on layout. Before buying, mark the rug's outline on the floor with painter's tape and live with it for a day.
